The Women Talking to Women About Anything Other Than a Man Film Contests

(TWTWAM for short)

At Medusa’s Gaze Films, we believe the future of cinema depends on bold, inclusive storytelling. That’s why we’ve launched a series of contests designed to spotlight stories and creators who break away from industry defaults and bring fresh perspectives to the screen.

Our contests flips the script by inviting writers to create scripts and films where women and gender-diverse characters engage in meaningful conversations about literally anything else.

Rotating through the year, we invite storytellers of all sex and gender expressions to participate!

At Medusa’s Gaze Films, we believe the future of cinema depends on bold, inclusive storytelling. That’s why we’ve launched a series of contests designed to spotlight stories and creators who break away from industry defaults and bring fresh perspectives to the screen.

Our flagship first event, the Women Talking to Women About Anything Other Than a Man Screenplay Contest, challenged writers to create short scripts (15 pages or less) where women and gender-diverse characters engage in meaningful conversations not centered on men. The contest drew a wide range of genres and voices, celebrating creativity and challenging norms.

But this is just the beginning. Upcoming contests will include a Micro-Short Film Contest and a Short Film Contest, each providing unique opportunities for emerging and established creators to showcase their talent. From the page to the screen, these contests offer pathways for development, visibility, and community.

All contests are open to storytellers of every background and level of experience. Winners receive recognition, cash prizes, and opportunities for feedback and professional development.

Together, these contests advance our mission to reframe film through an intentionally diverse gaze — one project, one voice, one story at a time.
